At the moment I’ve got an intense crush on Christmas roses. In the sharp winter sunlight, looking out of my studio window I feel them calling me away from my desk. Their catalogue of impossible unnatural colours intrigue, dusty chocolate, aubergine, fresh Chatreuse with nearly leathery petals. The want for that outrageous brave green to brighten a dark winter corner pulls me out of the warmth into the cold winter air.
The wonder that they are out there singing their colours in this impossible winter weather. There’s a beautiful display at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park going on right now, reward yourself and get out there to see them while toppping up your daily shot of vitamin D.
